Workers’ Compensation insurance is an important tool for both businesses and employees.

If an accident happens, Workers’ Compensation insurance covers your business and employees for medical bills, lost wages, as well as survivor benefits.

At SECURA, we’ll provide immediate assistance in the event of an injury, and provide communication and consistent progress monitoring, focusing on helping your staff return to work and control costs.

Features of Workers’ Compensation insurance

Nurse Hotline

SECURA’s Nurse Hotline provides your employees with 24/7 access to a registered nurse if an injury occurs on the job. A registered nurse will determine the nature of the injury and, if appropriate, transition your employee to a telemedicine physician who specializes in work-related injuries and illnesses — eliminating their need to travel and spend hours in an urgent care or emergency room facility. It’s an easy and efficient way to get your employees the care they need so they can stay on the job.

About Nurse Hotline

Return-to-Work program

SECURA’s Return-to-Work program helps injured employees get back on track, improving their recovery time, reducing time off work, and also leading to reduced workers’ compensation costs. Once a claim is filed, our claim representatives will work directly with all involved to help minimize the emotional and economic impact that can occur when a workplace injury takes place.

Crisis Care

When a workplace incident turns from injury to tragedy, it can result in emotional trauma for all involved and require psychological support, in addition to any medical treatment. At SECURA, Crisis Care is included with every Workers’ Compensation policy.

Our Crisis Care service provides:

  • Qualified evaluation. An accredited call center will help determine the next steps.
  • Convenience. Master-level behavioral health specialist trained in trauma provides on-site visits as needed.
  • Customized support. Receive small and large group or individual psycho-educational care as needed.

Commonly asked questions about Workers’ Compensation insurance

What is Workers’ Compensation insurance?

Workers’ Compensation insurance helps provide coverage for medical expenses, lost wages, and rehabilitation costs for employees who are injured or become ill while working, as well as death benefits for families of employees who are killed on the job. It also provides resources to medical professionals during rehabilitation.

Who needs Workers’ Compensation insurance?

Most states legally require Workers’ Compensation insurance. Some states require it even if you are self-employed or a sole proprietor. Depending on the state you are located in, specific laws govern how much coverage you must purchase, who must be covered, and how to report claims. Therefore, it is essential to discuss your insurance needs with your local insurance agent to ensure you comply with all applicable laws of your state.

How does Workers’ Compensation insurance work?

Workers’ Compensation insurance protects employees by providing benefits to help them recover if they are injured at work or develop an illness related to their work. For example, if an employee trips and falls, develops a physical disability from repetitive work activities, or is injured in an accident while on work-related business, Workers’ Compensation insurance can help cover the costs of treatment and recovery.

Who pays for Workers’ Compensation insurance?

The employer is responsible for covering the cost of Workers’ Compensation insurance, and is not allowed to withhold or collect any money from employees or any other person to cover this expense. It is the employer’s responsibility to ensure employees are provided with Workers’ Compensation coverage benefits in the event of any work-related injury or illness. Failure to do so can result in significant fines and penalties.
