Appleton, Wisconsin

Appleton is a fast-growing, mid-sized community in the heart of Wisconsin's Fox River Valley. Appleton's population is about 70,000. Residents are proud of a city that offers a high quality of life and promotes education and family values. Appleton is only a little over a one-hour drive to Milwaukee, where you can enjoy Milwaukee Brewers baseball, Milwaukee Bucks basketball, or catch some of the Big Ten excitement of the University of Wisconsin-Madison teams in Madison. Of course, right in our backyard, you will find America's team, the Green Bay Packers.

The Fox Cities has a wide array of attractions: museums, theaters and fine dining, including ethnic restaurants. Many residents enjoy the musical offerings of the Fox Valley Symphony, including the magical entertainment at Lawrence University and the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley. Residents can also see Broadway shows at Appleton's Fox Cities Performing Arts Center.

There are many opportunities for hiking, sailing, hunting, fishing, skiing, golfing, and other outdoor sports which are all within a few miles of the Fox Valley. Interested in shopping? Try the Fox River Mall, which is the second-largest enclosed mall in the state!

The city of Appleton contains two prominent modern hospitals, St. Elizabeth Hospital and Appleton Medical Center. The UW Health-Fox Valley Practice is a teaching facility of the University of Wisconsin, which provides training for physicians interested in joining the specialty team of family practice. The center is open to the public and is also staffed by experienced physicians who are faculty members at the University of Wisconsin Medical School.

Appleton residents are pleased with the caliber of education offered in the Fox Valley. There are five high schools, and 26 elementary schools in the Appleton Area School District.

Higher education institutions include Thomas M. Cooley Law School, which has an excellent reputation for producing highly qualified law practitioners. The school attracts students from across the nation and benefits from its proximity to the center of Michigan’s judicial, legislative and administrative branches of government. Davenport College offers bachelor’s and associate’s degrees in several business-related areas. Lansing Community College is one of the nation’s most respected two-year institutions of higher education, LCC enrolls more than 43,000 students, and offers more than 300 programs.
